Many area companies employ people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who become indispensable members of their workforce. The Arc staff works with prospective employers to find the right job candidate to meet their needs. Though the individual is on the company’s payroll and receives company benefits once hired, a job trainer from The Arc, trains the new employee until they meet all job requirements. The job trainer then stays connected to the employer and employee, perhaps on a weekly basis or as more training is necessary.
The Arc supports workers who are employed directly by area companies in many kinds of work including: food service, office support, custodial, retail stocking, and customer service.
The list of companies in Greater Baltimore who are employing people with disabilities supported by The Arc is impressive and diverse, and the type of work that people are doing at these companies is equally so. Check them out!
