In addition to a rigorous training program, The Arc Baltimore is committed to cultivating and developing emerging leaders. Current staff can apply for the following career advancement opportunities.

Direct Support Professional Apprenticeship Program

The Arc Baltimore partners with Humanim for their Maryland Direct Support Apprenticeship Program that focuses on encouraging mastery of professional standards of practice, while providing career advancement opportunities and pay incentives. Staff must have worked for The Arc for a minimum of 12 months and agree to 4 hours per month of structured class activity and additional self-paced learning.

Adult DSP Apprentices can earn 3 levels of certification each with their own skills requirements and pay incentives:

  • DSP Certified Initial Level (DSP-I)
  • DSP Certified Advance Level (DSP-II)
  • DSP Specialist Level (DSP-III)

Leadership Institute

The Arc Baltimore facilitates an internal Leadership Institute that consists of seven months of focused learning in leadership principles and brings together staff from across the agency at all levels.

MCE of The Arc Mayland Leadership Program

The agency sponsors 3-6 participants each year in the Maryland Council of Executives of The Arc Mayland's Leadership Program which consists of monthly programs with leaders from every chapter of the State.
