Pre-employment Transition Services

In partnership with the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS), The Arc Baltimore offers a range of Pre-Employment Transition Services designed to help students prepare for their future careers.

These services are available to students ages 14 to 21 with a documented disability who want to explore employment options, build job skills, develop interpersonal abilities, gain work-based experience, or prepare for college.

Our Course Offerings

Career Exploration

Students identify and expand their interests to explore various career paths. They will create a personalized career profile to research local job opportunities, learn about required skills, and track their progress—this profile remains accessible even after the course ends.

Self-Advocacy

Empowering students to speak up for themselves, this course teaches how to identify and communicate needs, understand legal rights and protections, access resources, and explain their disability effectively.

College Prep

Designed for students transitioning from high school to college, this course covers campus navigation, class prerequisites, enrolling in noncredit or trade programs, and understanding syllabi. Students will also tour a college campus and learn about the Office of Student Disability Services.

Soft Skills

Students learn about employer expectations and the importance of interpersonal and social skills in the workplace. This course offers practical strategies to build confidence and success in professional settings.

Work-Based Learning Experience

Gain real-world experience through internships tailored to each student’s career interests. We collaborate with community businesses to create meaningful opportunities that give students hands-on exposure to their desired fields.

Job Hunters

Prepare to impress employers with training in resume writing, interview skills, and professional appearance.
