The Arc Baltimore’s Community Living division supports people with disabilities in homes and apartments throughout the Baltimore area, helping them become full, active members of their chosen communities. Supports are personalized and provided on a part-time or full-time basis, tailored to each person’s needs and preferences. Our goal is to empower people to live as independently as possible while enjoying the company of friends, family, hobbies, and other interests.
We offer a variety of living arrangements and staffing levels to meet individual needs best:
People can rent or buy their own home, with or without roommates. The Arc helps connect compatible roommates and provides scheduled drop-in staff support as needed.
Some people live in agency-owned or rented homes with two or more housemates. These homes offer increased supervision and staffing, which may be available 24 hours a day.
Like adult foster care, people live with a support provider in their home, receiving varying levels of support, including 24-hour care if necessary.
Our services foster community involvement, promote meaningful relationships, ensure safety, and prioritize health. Staff assist as needed with daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, personal care, transportation, and medication management—always encouraging and teaching independence. Staff also supports people in pursuing their interests and building friendships.
