Landscape Supported Employment

Operated primarily from The Arc Baltimore Employment Center at the Seton business park, crews of supported workers provide lawn maintenance and grounds keeping services at commercial properties and public agency sites all across Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Every crew of supported workers is dispatched with two landscape supervisors to provide direct support and quality assurance. While some supported workers enjoy the landscape work and choose to stay in this type of work, others learn good work practices and then wish to find other employment opportunities.

Within the Landscaping contracts, there are additional crews that perform trash patrol and basic outdoor custodial work. This type of job is often a first job opportunity for an individual and usually serves as a stepping stone to a landscaping or janitorial position.

The payscale for landscaping jobs varies according to the contract – from minimum wage and no paid sick or vacation time to higher pay and benefits for federal work sites. Workers are given opportunities based on their abilities, preferences, and job availability. All are positioned to build skills that will lead to increased pay and benefits, either within landscaping or in other job opportunities. The work week is 37.5 hours.

Supported workers in Landscaping may self-transport to and from work whenever possible, or transportation may be arranged by The Arc Baltimore.
