The 16th annual Art in the Round presented by Scientific Plant Services and co-chaired by Laura Ward and Jennifer Brandenburg was a smashing success, netting nearly $70,000 for The Arc Baltimore’s mission.
The event, emceed by our friend Jeff St. Pierre, the WPOC 93.1 Morning Producer for the Laurie De Young Show, showcased 84 pieces of art created by over 60 talented artists with disabilities, many of whom were in attendance to discuss their pieces with guests and watch the bids soar as the night progressed.
Artist Gregory Bannister broke the highest previous bid record for both the live and silent auction where his piece Lady in Mourning went for $1,500 and A Woman of Many Colors sold for $2,100 respectively – and 60% of all bids will return in payment to the artists.
Guests also contributed directly to The Arc mission with nearly $30,000 in gifts ranging from $1—to $5,000 following the live auction. Guests were inspired by a video portraying five people whose lives have been changed by The Arc.
As the evening closed, one lucky friend of Artist Alice Henn won the Tech Bundle Raffle with a Roomba vacuum, a GoPro, a 50” Smart HDTV, and a Google Home.
A million thanks to everyone who attended the event, bought artwork and raffle tickets, sponsored an artist to attend, and volunteered their time to make this event possible. Each year, the event takes a giant leap forward and we owe it to all of you.
Make sure to mark October 19th, 2018 on your calendar for next year’s event!
