BALTIMORE, MD (8/18/17) — Art in the Round – The Arc Baltimore’s annual art exhibit and auction showcasing the talent and artistry of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities – is back and better than ever.
Featuring more than 80 jury-selected paintings, drawings, sculptures, and ceramics, this year’s 16th Annual Art in the Round will be held from 7:30-11:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29 at the Grand Lodge of Maryland (304 International Circle, Hunt Valley, MD).
In addition to the artwork, Art in the Round will include mobile bidding, a photo booth for souvenir pictures, a new, delectable menu, open beer and wine bar, a specialty drink offering, and a new and exciting design of the event space inspired by this year’s poster winner.
“Art in the Round is one of The Arc Baltimore’s most eagerly anticipated activities,” says the organization’s Executive Director, Kathleen M. Durkin. “The annual event provides funds to support art classes, workshops, and other mission-related programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, while 60 percent of the proceeds from the silent auction go to the exhibiting artists.”
The artwork exhibited at Art in the Round is chosen by a selection committee of art enthusiasts from more than 200 pieces submitted each year. Featured artists receive 60 percent of the winning bid for each piece of art sold. In addition, The Arc Baltimore presents a financial award to the artist whose work is chosen to be used for next year’s Art in the Round promotional poster.
More than 400 people are expected to attend this year’s Art in the Round, which is being chaired by community volunteers Laura Ward and Jen Brandenburg.
Tickets for Art in the Round are $75 per person and $700 for a reserved table of 10. Interested persons can also sponsor one of the Art in the Round artists for $150.
